If there’s one thing that Final Fantasy XIV does exceptionally well, is it’s allowing its player base to properly express themselves. Whether it’s through the various mounts and minions, or the seemingly endless number of outfits players can glamour over their armor, style is a key component to the Final Fantasy XIV experience.
Another aspect is emoting, as how you physically express yourself in the game can change the entire mood of a situation. Whether it’s being jokey in the middle of a raid or expressing your distaste for a certain situation, there are so many different emotes that suit your needs. One new emote will see you penning down information, something that can be used in various RP needs.
Where to Get the Pen Emote
The Pen emote is tied directly to PvP. Whether it’s Crystalline Conflict or the Frontlines, PvP remains a strong source of content for the Final Fantasy XIV playerbase. While it certainly isn’t as popular as the PvE content or the main story, there are various rewards that players can obtain through simply doing your dailies.
The Pen Emote can be found in the “Ballroom Etiquette – Penning for Posterity” illustration manual. You cannot buy the emote from the marketboard, but instead needs to be obtained through the PvP Series Malmstones.
The Series 9 Malmstones comes with various new cosmetics, with two new minions and a full new set of gear. But the Ballroom Etiquette – Penning for Posterity is also found in this. It is located on the fifth level. Almost every single Series comes with a new emote on the fifth level, requiring 10,000 EXP to get there.
How to Get PvP Experience Points
There are various means of obtaining PvP Experience Points. The easiest method, without doubt, will be grinding Crystalline Conflict. You don’t have to join a Ranked Match to obtain a good amount of EXP, but instead you can hop into a simple Casual Match. This is a 5v5 mode that has players fighting one another while pushing a crystal into the opposite team’s zone.
The other method is doing the daily Frontlines roulette. This is a long-term investment that can be done casually without much stress. At the same time, you can also run the daily Frontlines map over and over again, although that isn’t advised because it takes much longer than Crystalline Conflict and gives far less value for your time.
Finally, there’s Rival Wings, but this mode barely has any players engaging with it. There are small communities that organize events with the mode, but for gaining experience points, it’s the worst option.
