Every four to five months at a time, Square Enix will release a new major patch for Final Fantasy XIV, and Dawntrail is no different. This generally comes in the form of a numbered patch, and with it is a slew of new and enhanced content, with, of course, a two-or-so hour-long story segment.
This will take you through a relatively short campaign interconnected with the last, filled in with a dungeon and a trial boss. With patch 7.3, we are granted the finale of the Dawntrail storyline, putting an end to the Alexandria quests, but being so long since we last saw Sphene and Wuk Lamat, some may not remember where they last left off.
Pre-Requisite Quest: Seekers of Eternity
The Story So Far…
To start things off, you will need to finish the story of 7.2, specifically completing the Seekers of Eternity questline given to you by Sphene. After this is completed, you will have access to the latest story content with the main quest called “Targeted Tragedy.”
While the first post-release Dawntrail patch started off in Tuliyollal, similar to the second major release from patch 7.2, The Promise of Tomorrow, the title of the current patch, is located in Solution Nine. It seems appropriate given the events that have been transpiring here.
We have been chasing down our new, emo antagonist all over Alexandria, but finally it should be coming to a close. We will need to take him down and stop essentially a mass purge of the Alexandria people all while figuring out how the old Sphene is even allowed to be here.
Where to Unlock "The Promise of Tomorrow" 7.3 Main Story
As we mentioned above, you’ll want to head to Solution Nine. Interact with the main Aetheryte in the city’s core and teleport to the Neon Stein Aetheryte Shard in the east of the city. From here, head slightly southeast and go into the bar.
The quest giver is Shale herself, our lovely tall Elezen. She is located in the backroom of the Neon Stein bar. You will likely have come here quite a bit throughout the second half of the Dawntrail storyline, given it’s the headquarters of the Oblivion resistance.
You will need to talk to Tassos, the Backroom Doorman to gain access to the backroom itself, but once you’ve done, Shae will be right there ready to start the long-awaited finale of the Alexandria storyline.
