Facewear is a new Fashion Accessory-type system that was introduced with Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, one that has gotten a highly positive response. It allows players to wear different headpieces while not compromising what’s on their character’s face. For virtually every single Facewear currently released, it has been eyewear, be it prescription glasses, sunglasses, goggles or a monocle. There are even eyepatches.
What is the Shaded Visor?

The Shaded Visor, better known as the Cyclops Visor, isn’t a particularly new item. It originated all the way back to Heavensward, being a level 1 headpiece that you would glamour over your raid gear. It resembles something similar to X-Men’s Cyclops character, being a single-piece visor with a red strip across the visor.
What Square Enix has done in the 7.3 patch has actually turned it into a fashion accessory, similar to a lot of the glasses in the MMORPG. You will be able to add it to your catalog of fashionable accessories, and best yet, it comes in various different color schemes. You can have the standard grey base and red visor, or go a little more neon with all purple. There are twelve different color schemes to choose from, all of which should suit everyone’s needs.
Where to Find the Shaded Visors
The Shaded Visors can be found in the Gold Saucer. This means that players will need to be at least level 15 and complete the side quest, “It Could Happen to You,” found in Ul’dah’s Steps of Nald. Once you’ve completed this and gained access to the Gold Saucer, you will need to obtain 50,000 MGP currency.
By comparison, the recently released mascot t-shirts only cost 5,000 MGP, so getting 50,000 can be a lot for anyone starting out. You will need to participate in the various mini-games the Gold Saucer has to offer, some of which rotate every thirty minutes.
Once you’ve obtained 50,000 MGP, head to the Entrance Square and locate the Gold Saucer Attendant
Once you do this, you should see “The Faces We Wear – Shaded Visor” for 50,000 MGP. All you need to do now is purchase it and use the glasses in your inventory. Go into your Character Profile and select the visors from the Facewear menu below your left-sided equipment.
