You might be tempted to focus on the bugs, the battles and the base-building in Grounded 2, but if you really want to make progress, it all comes down to the resources you collect. Some of them might seem small or ordinary at first, but they end up being the key to better tools, stronger gear and smarter ways to survive.
8 Clay
For Construction

Clay in Grounded 2 might look like just some muddy dirt, but it’s way more useful than it seems. It’s a Tier I resource, meaning you can get it early in the game and once you know what to do with it, becomes one of the best things to stockpile. One of the biggest things you can use clay for is making Ash Cement, which is a super strong building material. To craft it, you mix clay with Charcoal Ash and toss it into the oven. What comes out is great for fireproof bases and tough builds that won’t break easily when enemies attack.
You’ll mostly find clay near wet or swampy areas. If you’re walking past puddles or marshy spots and notice round, reddish clumps in the ground, that’s what you’re looking for. To actually gather clay, you’ll need a Tier I Omni-Hammer. Just smack the clump a few times, and you’ll get several chunks of clay that you can stash for later.
7 Sprig
Common Material for Crafting and Construction

Sprigs are short, green twigs found literally everywhere. You’ll trip over them in the grass, which is great because they’re one of the most-used resources in the entire game. From tools to furniture to early traps, sprigs are a basic building block.
They’re used to make Pebblet Axes, torches and even armor. Nearly every Tier I blueprint involves a sprig in some way. They also regenerate quickly, so don’t worry about running out. Even late in the game, you’ll need them for repairs or minor builds.
6 Thistle Needle
For Making Arrows

Thistle Needles are long, spiky thorns you’ll find on Thistle Plants. These tall purple plants are scattered across the yard and you’ll spot their thorns sticking straight out like porcupine spikes. You can just climb the stem and harvest them directly.
You can use Thistle Needles to craft arrows, which makes them essential if you prefer fighting from a distance. Basic arrows, venom arrows and even elemental arrows all start with a needle, which is gotten from Thistle Needle. The best thing about Thistle Needles is that they regrow. Unlike rare resources that dry up, thistle plants refresh over time, so you can mark the location and revisit when you’re low on ammo.
5 Grub Roast
One of the Best Filling Meals

A Grub Roast is one of the best meals you can eat. You get it by hunting Grubs, which are those squirmy things burrowing underground. You’ll hear a faint rustling, spot moving dirt and need a shovel or digging tool to bring them to the surface. Once caught, toss them on a Cooking Spit.
It’s a filling meal that restores both hunger and health. It's one of the first cooked items you'll unlock and it’s far better than eating raw mushrooms or gnawing on dry grass. You’ll find grubs mostly in damp zones or near decaying logs. Their spawn rate is decent, and since they’re passive, you can stock up without a fight.
4 Brittle Quartzite Shard
Helps You Upgrade Your Weapons

These shiny red crystal shards are one of the most important upgrade materials in Grounded 2. You can mine them from Quartzite Rocks, found in caves and underground tunnels. A basic hammer can break them and each rock gives you several shards.
Brittle Quartzite Shard are the starting point for upgrading your tools and weapons. You can use them at the workbenchto boost durability or damage of your weapons. Don’t waste them on throwaway gear, though. Focus on your main weapons or armor. As you progress, you’ll unlock stronger upgrade materials, but Brittle Quartzite gets you through the early and mid-game.
3 Red Soldier Ant Egg
To Get Your First Rideable Buggy

Red Soldier Ant Eggs are rare and found deep inside ant hills. Getting one means sneaking past aggressive ants without getting torn apart. These eggs sit in clusters on the floor, and once taken, ants will swarm if you’re seen. So the big question is: why bother?
The egg gives you your first rideable insect or buggy in Grounded 2. It comes to life when you find and incubate a Red Soldier Ant Egg inside your Hatchery, and complete the early Egg Hunt mission.
2 Acorn Top
Constructing Multiple Base Structures

Acorn Tops are found near Oak Trees. Smash an acorn with a hammer and you’ll get the shell and the top. It’s the top that you want for building multiple base structures. It’s one of the earliest materials that helps you build strong armor, a storage chest and important tools like the Sap Catcher.
Since oak areas are also home to dangerous bugs like spiders, always come prepared. Don’t rush in unarmed or you’ll get flattened before you even collect your first acorn. In early to mid-game, these provide inexpensive but effective building material, so get them if you can.
1 Spicy Glob
Makes Your Weapon More Powerful

If you’re looking to add real firepower to your gear in Grounded 2, Spicy Globs are exactly what you need. These small, red orbs are used to make weapons that deal sizzling (fire) damage which is super effective against ants and spiders. But Spicy Globs are not something you find lying around. You can only get them from a special locked chest hidden in the Pine Hill area.
To open the chest, you’ll need two things: a Tier II Omni-Shovel and a Sizzling Key. The Omni-Shovel is needed to dig up the buried chest and the Sizzling Key, which used to unlock it, can be found during a late-game quest and appears on BURG.L’s desk once you complete it.
