Quick Links
Grounded 2 has a number of resources that you have to collect from the various bugs that you'll encounter in the park. Some bugs are annoying, but weak, while others are strong and dangerous to fight, especially if you don't have armor that gives you a bit of resistance to their attacks. Luckily, there are also bugs that don't even try to fight back, but they might run away and make you chase them.
Spine Nubs are going to require you to do a bit of climbing most of the time in order to collect them, since you often have to get onto leaves for them.
Where to Find Spine Nubs
Spine Nubs are collected from Caterpillars, which are bugs that aren't hostile and won't really put up a fight against you, meaning that killing them for nubs is fairly straightforward. Plus, you almost always get at least one Spine Nub from each Caterpillar. The hard part is finding and reaching the Caterpillars. While you can find them on leaves in the Picnic Table area, you can also go over to the roots in the Pine Hill area to find Caterpillars as well.
The Caterpillars won't fight you, and they generally hang out on leaves alone. However, reaching them means you'll have a chance to run into stronger bugs that can be difficult to deal with, such as Orb Weavers and Red Soldier Ants. The Orb Weavers are likely to be the junior versions, which are easier to fight, but there are some full Orb Weavers that are in this area, so you want to be prepared.
How to Use Spine Nubs
Spine Nubs are part of a number of recipes. Once you pick up at least one, you want to take it to a Resource Analyzer to unlock the recipes that use Spine Nubs. These include:
- Bombuckler
- Northern Shredders
- Weaver Spaulders
- Weaver Leggings
- Weaver Hood
- Pine Wall Lamp
The Weaver Armor pieces give you a decent amount of resistance, which makes it worth your time to collect the items needed to craft them. However, this means that you'll need a handful of Spine Nubs and have to face Orb Weavers to collect other items needed to actually craft this armor in Grounded 2.
