Originally introduced in Endwalker, Fashion Accessories evolved greatly in Dawntrail, allowing Final Fantasy XIV players to equip various items, be it wings, backpacks or parasols, and show them off anywhere outside of combat. This was originally limited to specifically parasols, but eventually branched off into new things, even as far as to go as far as Facewear.
What is the Torch Fashion Accessory?
As the name suggests, the Torch Fashion Accessory is a wooden stick your player holds that has been set a blaze at the tip. It’s not particularly the flashiest of Fashion Accessories we have seen, but it is certainly one of the more unique ones.
This is because, outside of parasols and umbrellas, there haven’t really been any other items players could equip through the fashion menu that would have the player holding something in one of their hands. This is Square Enix branching outside the norm and trying to include something different, with hopes that they will include different items in the future. We can only hope for some comedic collaborations in the future.
Sadly, because Final Fantasy XIV has a limited engine, the flame at the tip of the stick doesn’t actually illuminate the surrounding areas, nor does it cast any unique shadows.
Where to Get the Torch
With its release, there are currently only two ways of actually obtaining the Torch Fashion Accessory:
Vault Oneiron Treasure Hunting
Similar to the Yan mount and minions, the newly introduced Vault Oneiron treasure hunting includes the Torch as a potential drop. How it works, is when you go treasure hunting with a group of players via a Timeworn Gargantuaskin Map, you have the chance of unlocking a portal upon slaying the monsters guarding the treasure chest.
If this happens, you will then be teleported to the Vault Oneiron mini-game circuit where you’ll have a chance of obtaining various goodies, along with loot that can be rolled on. If you’re lucky enough for the Torch to come up with the loot options, you will need to roll Need at a chance to obtain it. If you roll higher than the rest of the group, it’s yours to do with as you please.
With that said, you will need to have access to the final area of Dawntrail’s story (Living Memory) in order to do the Gargantuaskin Map treasure hunting.
Marketboard

Of course, like the rest of the rewards from the Vault Oneiron, and the other treasure-hunting portals, the contents are available to be sold off as you see fit. So if you were to earn a Torch while in a Vault Oneiron session, you can simply sell it.
If you don’t have access to the end portions of Dawntrail, this is the only means of actually obtaining the Torch otherwise. At the current time, the Torch Fashion Accessory is going from anywhere between five and ten million, which seems like a lot considering this is just a stick with fire at the end of it. Regardless, it’s something you can carry around town with and showoff.
